Packed with office high rises, including the tallest in town, One Progress Plaza, downtown St. Petersburg is home to the Tampa Bay Times, The Mahaffey Theater complex and the Morean Arts Center. There are also dozens of art galleries, and the renowned Haslam’s Bookstore.
Other popular attractions include the Museum of Fine Arts, the Salvador Dali Museum, the Florida International Museum and the St. Petersburg Museum of History.
The University of South Florida St. Petersburg and a downtown branch of St. Petersburg College are also a part of this lively scene. The waterfront Straub Park offers walking, biking, and picnicking. Most restaurants and bars are located along Central Avenue or Beach Drive.
At the western edge of downtown is Tropicana Field, home base for Major League Baseball’s Tampa Bay Rays.
